Termidor spreads quickly to thoroughly control termite infestations. Termidor controls termites both through ingestion and contact. Because fipronil, the active ingredient in Termidor, is nonrepellent, termites can't smell it, see it or feel it. As a result, termites forage freely throughout the treated zone and eat the termiticide or unknowingly pick it up and carry it back to the colony on their bodies. From then on, every termite these "carriers" contact, feed, or groom will itself become a carrier, spreading the termiticide to others.

Furthermore, because fipronil is slow acting, it allows the carrier-termites to remain active long enough to transfer the Termidor to a large number of other termites in the colony before dying. Through this "Transfer Effect™" a single termite spreads Termidor to a large number of other termites who have never been near the treated area.
