William Schendel, the President of Schendel Pest Control, started the business in 1955 after receiving a degree in entomology from Kansas State University. Bill Schendel, William's son, started service work full time in 1989 and is now the manager. Both William and Bill Schendel have served on several committees and boards for the State and National Pest Control Associations.

In the year 2000 Bill Schendel served as President of the Iowa State Pest Control Association.
