Few quick facts about
bed
bugs: The adults are small brown bugs that look like a thin apple seed.
They are about ¼ inch long and can be seen with the human
eye. The babies are much smaller and are not easily seen. They feed on
blood, mostly of humans at night while we are sleeping. We
don’t usually feel them feeding because they inject an
anesthetic like substance into our skin before they bite.
Most people who are bitten, though not all, present with itchy bumps or
welts. After feeding, bed bugs return to their hiding places, where
they spend the majority of their time. Bed bugs typically hide in
cracks and crevices close to where we sleep, but can also be
found anywhere humans spend a good deal of time resting.

Entomologists have
tested
bedbugs and found they are becoming more resistant to
chemicals. That said, the future of bed bug control
is in heat.

This non-chemical,
non-toxic approach penetrates wall cavities, mattresses and other hard
to reach locations to kill bed bugs. By applying heat evenly throughout
a structure we are able to kill bed bugs wherever they are hiding. Heat
will kill all of the growth stages of the bed bug including the eggs.
This is an important fact given that not all current pesticide control
methodologies kill bed bug eggs. This means that oftentimes Schendel
Pest Control can eradicate the entire bedbug population in a single
treatment.
